Crowd Funding: Uh-oh
If I didn't need to ask, I wouldn't. Part of me hates to ask. But I cant do this trip without you - every single one of you, donating whatever amount is put into your heart. I just can't do it by myself, so i'm asking for you to prayerfully consider donating ANY amount towards this incredible opportunity.
As well as asking for donations big and small, I have a few fundraising adventures in mind - auctioning off some of my handmade quilts, selling other handmade goods at markets, and partnering with wonderful business sponsors. I may even do a classic sausage sizzle!!
A beautiful friend who is a mortgage broker has pledged to donate $500 if someone I know goes to her for help with refinancing - please get in touch if this could be you!
If you have a business or a service that you could use to donate or raise money, please contact me!
COST BREAK DOWN
As an International Medical Relief (IMR) volunteer, I pay a lump sump to the charity, which ensures that all my needs once in Ethiopia are met. It includes all food, accommodation, security and transport during the trip. The largest portion of that donation goes to purchasing a substantial shipment of medical goods made through IMR to the clinic that the volunteers travel to, including much needed medicines. I will purchase my own flights from Auckland to Addis Ababa, as the IMR flight leaves from Washington (and I don't fancy having to travel there first!).
Please feel free to read more about the IMR trip costs on there website here. You can also read about their running costs and where the money donated goes to.
IMR have done medical relief trips to Ethiopia for nearly a decade, and have established great relationships with the medical team there. The trips have proven to make a difference in the community, and now the trips have a health promotion and training angle to them, working with local medical staff to increase their knowledge and skills - something that I love!
As a rough idea, I will need to raise several thousand dollars for this trip to be feasible. Yes, it's a lot! Yes, it made me think twice - three times, even. But health is worth a lot. Making a difference is worth a lot. The unseen consequences of this trip are worth a lot.
I cant do this alone. I need your help to make it work. I just thank each person for considering to back me financially to go forth in obedience and love, and serve a nation that is desperately in need of aid.
